Service Review:
Healthy Paws was co-founded by Rob Jackson and Steve Siadek who met though a shared passion for helping shelter animals. It was through this passion and their strong desire to help these animals that they created Healthy Paws Pet Insurance and their non-profit, Healthy Paws Foundation. Healthy Paws offers one, simple to understand pet insurance plan that covers everything from injuries, illnesses, genetic conditions, and emergency care. They are the only pet insurance provider to offer unlimited lifetime benefits with an annual deductible. Healthy Paws strives to keep pets that may be a financial burden to their pet parents out of shelters by offering an affordable and user friendly insurance solution.
How it works:
Healthy Paws allows you to visit any licensed veterinarian, including specialists and emergency animal hospitals, to treat any accident or illness.
Getting Started – To pick the plan that best suits your budget, go to their website and click the link to get a free quote. Then just enter your pet’s name, age, and breed and you instantly get your quote, which you can then modify to best suit your budget.
When Coverage Begins – After you submit your quote, there is a general waiting period of 15 days or 12 months for hip dysplasia specifically, while your pet’s health records are checked, but once everything is cleared and submitted, your quote is continuous until cancellation.
Claims & Reimbursements – After paying your veterinarian for your pet’s treatment, send Healthy Paws the clinic invoice along with the one-page claim form. To calculate your reimbursement, they take the covered charges, multiply it by your reimbursement level, and then apply whatever remains of your annual deductible, after which you arrive at your reimbursement.
Processing Claims – Once you submit your claim, you can expect it to be processed in 10 business days and reimbursement generally happens within 72 hours of receiving the medical records from the veterinarian.
Multiple Pet Coverage – There is an option to add any additional pets you might want to add to the plan. After your initial quote, you can add your additional pet(s) onto the quote to get an estimate of how much the coverage would be for all your pets.
The policy allows you to choose any licensed veterinarian in the US, Canada and Mexico, but you must be a permanent US citizen to purchase a policy. If you change your mind within 30 days of purchasing the policy, your money will be refunded in full as long as a claim had not been filed. If you and your pet travel out of state, your pet will be covered as well if you travel to Canada and Mexico.
